What is RotatePapers?

RotatePapers is a free, browser-based tool that lets you rotate PDF pages online without uploading them to a server. Everything runs inside your browser — your files never leave your device.

Unlike server-based tools like Adobe Acrobat Online, Smallpdf, or iLovePDF, RotatePapers processes your files entirely client-side. That means no file size limits enforced by upload quotas, no privacy risks from server storage, and no waiting for a remote server to complete the task.

Four canonical angles

Every angle that actually matters

RotatePapers sticks to the four lossless rotations PDF readers honor natively. No skew, no resampling, no artifacts — just a metadata flip on each page.

FAQ

Common questions

Everything worth knowing before you rotate. Click any question to expand the answer.

Is RotatePapers really free?
Yes — completely free, no paid tier, no credit card, no watermarks. The tool runs entirely in your browser, so there are no server costs to pass on and nothing to upsell you into.
Are my PDFs uploaded to a server?
No. RotatePapers runs entirely in your browser. Your files are read, rotated, and saved locally on your device. Nothing is transmitted over the network.
Is there a file size limit?
There's no hard limit set by us. The practical ceiling is your device's available memory — most modern laptops handle files of 500 MB or more without trouble. Phones typically max out around 100–200 MB.
Can I use password-protected PDFs?
Not directly. You'll need to remove the password first using the source application or a separate decryption tool. Browser security blocks reading encrypted PDFs without the key.
Does RotatePapers work on mobile?
Yes. It runs in any modern mobile browser, including iOS Safari and Android Chrome. Drag-and-drop is replaced by a tap-to-select file picker on touch devices.
Will the output PDF have a watermark?
No. The output file is clean — same fonts, same images, same metadata as your original, just with the rotation flag updated.
Do you store my files after I close the tab?
No. Nothing is stored anywhere — not on our servers, not in cookies, not in localStorage. Closing the tab clears everything.
How is RotatePapers different from Adobe or Smallpdf?
Most online PDF tools upload your files to their servers to process them, then delete them later (you hope). RotatePapers does the work inside your browser, so the files never leave your computer in the first place. It's also free with no daily limits.
Is RotatePapers safe for confidential documents?
Yes — arguably safer than any server-based tool. Your files don't travel anywhere, so there's no upload to intercept, no server log to leak, and no third-party cloud storage to breach.
Can I rotate individual pages differently?
Yes. Each page has its own ↺↻ buttons so you can set a different rotation for every page in the document.
